Kitticcino Wellness Clinic

Kitticcino's Animal Wellness Clinic caters to both canine and feline patients. We believe that all pets are deserving of high-quality care, regardless of the financial status of their owner. We are able to see both wellness visits, as well as sick visits. However, we are unable to perform radiographs at this time. 

 

RABIES

Rabies is a fatal neurological disease, and its vaccination is required by law.

Feline Leukemia

There is no cure for feline leukemia, and cats with the disease have an average lifespan of six months from contraction.

FECAL EXAMINATIONS

Fecal examinations are recommended annually to ensure your pet is free from intestinal parasites. You will not always see worms in the stool, and many cats will have infections of microorganisms that cannot be seen with the naked eye. Cats will frequently contract tapeworm infections from grooming themselves of fleas.

FVRCP

FVRCP stands for Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus and Panleukopenia. Panleukopenia is oftentimes fatal, while Rhinotracheitis and Calicivirus are moderate to severe upper respiratory infections.

FeLV/FIV Testing

There are no cures for Feline Leukemia (FeLV) or Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) and there is no vaccine proven to be effective for FIV. Testing is recommended for all cats with unknown histories, especially those that have spent time outdoors.

An annual physical is recommended to ensure optimal health, and is required, by law, for rabies vaccinations.

LEPTOSPIROSIS

Leptospirosis is costly to treat, and can be deadly if left untreated. Leptopsirosis is a bacterium spread by the urine of wildlife, and is found in standing water and wooded areas.

CANINE INFLUENZA BIVALENT

Canine Influenza is found in similar situations as bordetella bronchiseptica-- kennels, grooming salons, dog parks, and veterinary hospitals. There are several strains of the virus, the most common being H3N2 and H2N8.

DHPP

DHPP stands for Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza and Parvo. The only disease covered by this core vaccination that is not fatal is parainfluenza, but it can prove deadly for young puppies and seniors.

BORDETELLA

Bordetella bronchiseptica, also known as Kennel Cough, is commonly found in dog social areas-- boarding kennels, grooming salons, dog parks, and veterinary hospitals. Kennel cough is not usually fatal, but can pose problems for young puppies and seniors.

HEARTWORM TESTING


Heartworms are spread by mosquitos, and live in the heart and lungs of unprotected cats and dogs. Prevention is simple, economical and effective, while treatment is costly, painful, lengthy, and not always successful.
